Southern Utah University offers 1 Free College Credit for High School Students
(All high school students (9th - 12th grade) in the USA are eligible to apply for the CSCY 1100 class).

Course Description: This one (1) credit course will provide an opportunity for students to participate and engage in various computing projects. These industry- and university-sponsored projects are carefully designed to increase awareness about education and career computing skills. These skills lead the way for innovative solutions to long-standing problems at national and local levels that are at a high demand by virtually every industry. This one-credit course can be taken by students a maximum of three times. (Fall, Spring, Summer) [Pass/Fail].

Participate and Engage in Computing Projects

Topics Included (But not limited to): Best safety practices when using social media, cybersecurity, Videos from industry members on advantages of cybersecurity career and education, discussion on importance and need for cybersecurity/computing, Deepfakes, Phishing, Social engineering.

Assignments: Fun and creative online assignments linked with topics above (pass or fail class)

Opportunities: Free class worth aprox. $500, based on your performance receive CompTIA certification voucher free, Apply for other scholarships, Network with other high school students from US, Meet role models and industry members on Zoom, Engage in Q&A sessions and Get first preference to participate in other upcoming activities of the OutreachMAD 2.0 project that are free!
